Understanding Destination Charges

Ask which charges are included before comparing international freight quotes.

Separate transport from local costs

Ocean freight, terminal handling, customs clearance, duties, taxes, storage and final delivery may be quoted by different parties. A low ocean rate alone is not a door-to-door total.

Define who pays

Agree whether the shipper or consignee pays each charge and who arranges customs and local delivery. The agreed commercial terms should be reflected in the quote and documents.

Confirm the final address

A port name or destination city is not enough to price inland delivery. Include the full address, access conditions and expected receiving hours.
