Freight to Bogotá via Cartagena
Bogotá, Colombia's capital, sits high on an Andean plateau about 662 km in a straight line from Cartagena, the Caribbean port where A1's rate ends at the destination CFS. Toronto is the cheapest and fastest gateway at about 30 days, with Montreal near 35 and Vancouver near 42. The price is USD 8 per cubic foot, and the minimum is USD 547.56.
The road climb from the coast to Bogotá is long, so the consignee should line up a trucker in advance; that leg, plus Colombian customs, duties and taxes, is paid at destination and not by A1. Freight must be prepaid. Colombians moving back from Canada and small businesses importing equipment are typical senders; personal effects travel subject to carrier approval with a signed packing list and a passport copy. A1 does not pick up or palletize, so bring cargo to our warehouse on ISPM 15 heat-treated pallets or crates. The carrier confirms Cartagena charges before you pay.
How a shipment to Bogotá works
Bogotá is not a destination in the carrier's tariff. The closest priced destination is Cartagena about 662 km (straight line) from Bogotá: the A1 price covers ocean freight from Canada to the destination warehouse (CFS) at Cartagena. From there the consignee collects the cargo or books the last leg to Bogotá with a local trucking company; that delivery, destination customs clearance, duties and taxes are not in the A1 price.
