Commercial LCL shipping from Canada to Slovakia
Samples, spare parts, stock for a small shop or goods for a customer abroad do not need a whole container. A1 ships commercial cargo in shared ocean containers (LCL) from Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver to Bratislava. The rate starts at USD 3 per cubic foot to Bratislava, and the carrier estimates 37–47 days in transit depending on the gateway and the city.
EU transfer-of-residence relief applies to used household goods, a commercial invoice is required, and personal effects are accepted on carrier approval.
Bratislava lies on the Danube right next to Austria and Hungary, about 60 km from Vienna. Slovakia's car plants (Volkswagen, Kia, Stellantis, Jaguar Land Rover) make commercial shipments of parts and tools common. Families relocating should register their residence with the Foreign Police before claiming the household-goods relief.
Slovakia uses the euro and applies EU customs rules, so commercial importers need an EORI number. The household-goods relief requires proof that you lived outside the EU for at least twelve months and owned the goods for six.
Supplying Slovak manufacturers by LCL. The tariff requires a commercial invoice for Slovakia, and wood packaging must follow ISPM 15. Spare parts, tooling and samples for the automotive and engineering plants around Bratislava, Trnava and Žilina are typical small consignments. The Bratislava terminal is a short drive from both Vienna and the Hungarian border, which suits buyers in the whole region.
The importer's EORI number, the HS code and the country of origin of every line belong on the commercial invoice, and the packing list should match it piece for piece. A1 accepts consignments with an invoice value of up to CAD 2,000, delivered to our warehouse already palletized or crated, and does not book dangerous goods such as batteries, paint or aerosols. The destination charges for Bratislava are confirmed by the carrier and prepaid in Canada with the freight.
Gateways for Bratislava. Toronto and Montreal are about ten days quicker than Vancouver to the Bratislava terminal, so shippers in the east of Canada should use those warehouses, whether they are sending household goods to a family or commercial goods to an importer. The cargo is unloaded at a European seaport and finishes its journey by rail or road, which the transit estimate already includes. Plan the delivery to our warehouse after the documents are ready, because the booking is confirmed only when the paperwork is complete and approved.
Slovak importers often receive goods that continue to plants elsewhere in the country, so the commercial invoice and the pallet labels should show the importer's name, full address and a contact phone number. A matching packing list with the gross weight and dimensions of every pallet speeds up the release at the terminal.

Pallets and crates
Commercial cargo travels palletized or crated. Wood packaging must be ISPM 15 heat-treated and stamped, or the cargo can be refused at the destination. Stack the cartons squarely on the pallet, no wider than the pallet itself, and stretch-wrap and strap them; label every piece with the consignee's name and city in Slovakia. You deliver the cargo, already palletized or crated, to our receiving warehouse in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver: A1 does not offer pickup and does not palletize. The warehouse measures and weighs the cargo, and the final price follows those measurements.
