Commercial LCL shipping from Canada to Singapore

Samples, spare parts, stock for a small shop or goods for a customer abroad do not need a whole container. A1 ships commercial cargo in shared ocean containers (LCL) from Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver to Singapore. The rate starts at USD 3 per cubic foot to Singapore, and the carrier estimates 37–47 days in transit depending on the gateway and the city.

Clearance in Singapore is done through a declaring agent who files an import permit in TradeNet. Used household goods and personal effects of people relocating to Singapore are generally relieved from GST; alcohol and tobacco are taxed, and some goods, such as chewing gum, firearms or certain medicines, are controlled or prohibited.

Commercial cargo to Singapore. Singapore works as a regional distribution hub, so Canadian exporters send samples, spare parts and small stock orders that an importer then sells across South-East Asia. The tariff applies ISPM 15 to Singapore: untreated wooden crates or pallets can be refused, so use stamped wood or plastic pallets. A destination handling surcharge applies to wine and dutiable goods, and the carrier confirms it, with the other destination charges, before the booking is paid in Canada. Vancouver is ten days quicker than the eastern gateways for this route. The invoice value of the consignment must stay within CAD 2,000, and dangerous goods are not accepted.

A hub for Canadian exporters. Goods from our Vancouver warehouse reach Singapore in about 37 days, ten days sooner than from Toronto or Montreal, which matters when a buyer is waiting for replacement parts. The commercial invoice should name the Singapore importer, describe each line plainly and give its HS code and value, so that the declaring agent can file the import permit without coming back with questions.

Documents for commercial cargo

  • Commercial invoice. Our commercial invoice (PDF): seller and buyer, a clear description of each item, quantity, unit value, total value, currency and country of origin. HS codes help customs in Singapore classify the goods.
  • Packing list. The packing list (PDF) gives the pieces, packed dimensions and gross weight of every pallet, crate or carton, matching the invoice.
  • Customs value. The customs value of the shipment may not exceed CAD 2,000.

The importer's details that the carrier conditions below ask for (tax or registration numbers) go on the invoice and the booking. More help: commercial shipping documents.

Pallets and crates

Commercial cargo travels palletized or crated. Wood packaging must be ISPM 15 heat-treated and stamped, or the cargo can be refused at the destination. Stack the cartons squarely on the pallet, no wider than the pallet itself, and stretch-wrap and strap them; label every piece with the consignee's name and city in Singapore. You deliver the cargo, already palletized or crated, to our receiving warehouse in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver: A1 does not offer pickup and does not palletize. The warehouse measures and weighs the cargo, and the final price follows those measurements.
