Commercial LCL shipping from Canada to Estonia

Samples, spare parts, stock for a small shop or goods for a customer abroad do not need a whole container. A1 ships commercial cargo in shared ocean containers (LCL) from Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver to Tallin. The rate starts at USD 5 per cubic foot to Tallin, and the carrier estimates 24–34 days in transit depending on the gateway and the city.

For commercial goods the tariff requires a commercial invoice, certificate of origin, and an import licence or sales agreement. Personal effects are accepted on approval, and EU transfer-of-residence relief applies to used household goods.

Estonia is a digital-first country: customs declarations and company registration are handled online, and many importers use e-residency companies. Household goods for families moving to Tallinn need an inventory and proof of residence. Because cargo is handled via Vilnius, allow extra days for the last leg and for the consignee's deposit to be arranged.

The Estonian document list is long. For commercial cargo the tariff requires a commercial invoice and a certificate of origin, plus an import licence or a sales agreement with the Estonian buyer. Freight is prepaid only. Routing via Vilnius adds a fixed agency charge, and the consignee places a storage deposit there. ISPM 15 applies to every wooden pallet or crate. Put the importer's EORI number and the HS codes on the invoice. A1 books consignments with an invoice value up to CAD 2,000, without dangerous goods, delivered to our warehouse ready to load, and the carrier confirms the destination charges before you pay.

An Estonian importer should arrange the certificate of origin and the import licence or sales agreement before the goods reach our warehouse in Canada, since the booking cannot be confirmed without them. With about 24 days from Toronto or Montreal to Tallinn, the Baltic route is quick; the paperwork is usually what decides the date. Household goods for Estonia travel on the same route and timing.

  • From Montreal: USD 582.88, about 24 days

Documents for commercial cargo

  • Commercial invoice. Our commercial invoice (PDF): seller and buyer, a clear description of each item, quantity, unit value, total value, currency and country of origin. HS codes help customs in Estonia classify the goods.
  • Packing list. The packing list (PDF) gives the pieces, packed dimensions and gross weight of every pallet, crate or carton, matching the invoice.
  • Customs value. The customs value of the shipment may not exceed CAD 2,000.

The importer's details that the carrier conditions below ask for (tax or registration numbers) go on the invoice and the booking. More help: commercial shipping documents.

Pallets and crates

Commercial cargo travels palletized or crated. Wood packaging must be ISPM 15 heat-treated and stamped, or the cargo can be refused at the destination. Stack the cartons squarely on the pallet, no wider than the pallet itself, and stretch-wrap and strap them; label every piece with the consignee's name and city in Estonia. You deliver the cargo, already palletized or crated, to our receiving warehouse in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver: A1 does not offer pickup and does not palletize. The warehouse measures and weighs the cargo, and the final price follows those measurements.
