Commercial LCL shipping from Canada to Austria
Samples, spare parts, stock for a small shop or goods for a customer abroad do not need a whole container. A1 ships commercial cargo in shared ocean containers (LCL) from Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver to Linz and Vienna. The rate starts at USD 2 per cubic foot to Linz, and the carrier estimates 37–47 days in transit depending on the gateway and the city.
Moving to Austria. Used household goods are free of duty and import VAT under the EU transfer-of-residence relief after twelve months outside the EU, if owned for six months. Austrian customs asks for the inventory and your registration certificate (Meldezettel). Every shipment needs a commercial invoice or a value declaration, and personal effects are accepted on carrier approval.
Commercial imports into Austria. The Austrian importer needs an EU EORI number and pays customs duty according to the EU Common Customs Tariff and import VAT, at the standard Austrian rate of 20% for most goods. Cargo can be cleared at the EU port of arrival or travel under a transit document to the inland terminal and be cleared in Vienna or Linz, which is often easier for a local business. Send the buyer the commercial invoice with HS codes, the packing list and the bill of lading before the container reaches Europe, and state the origin of the goods so the importer can check any preferential duty under the EU–Canada trade agreement (CETA).

Pallets and crates
Commercial cargo travels palletized or crated. Wood packaging must be ISPM 15 heat-treated and stamped, or the cargo can be refused at the destination. Stack the cartons squarely on the pallet, no wider than the pallet itself, and stretch-wrap and strap them; label every piece with the consignee's name and city in Austria. You deliver the cargo, already palletized or crated, to our receiving warehouse in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver: A1 does not offer pickup and does not palletize. The warehouse measures and weighs the cargo, and the final price follows those measurements.
