One shipment, two transport questions
Ocean freight ends at a seaport or freight terminal; Berlin delivery needs another movement. The Port of Hamburg is an example of a German gateway with rail and road connections to the hinterland, but it is not a promise that an A1 shipment will enter there. The arrival port, any transfer, the inland carrier and the handoff point depend on the booking available when the cargo is ready. Ask for a quote that identifies each leg, rather than treating “Berlin” as if it were an ocean port.
When LCL or FCL may fit
Less-than-container-load (LCL) places smaller packed shipments in a shared container. The cargo may need consolidation before sailing and release from a destination facility afterward. Full-container-load (FCL) dedicates a container to one booking and calls for loading and unloading arrangements that suit the shipper and receiver. Send the piece count, outer measurements, gross weight and any non-stackable or fragile handling needs so A1 can compare the appropriate options.
Price the Berlin handoff explicitly
Tell us whether the consignee will collect from a named terminal, receive at a warehouse or require delivery to a Berlin street address. Provide the postal code, opening hours, access restrictions and unloading equipment. The written offer should say which parts of Canadian pickup, ocean transport, terminal handling, customs work, import charges, inland transport and final delivery are included, excluded or still awaiting confirmation. Port storage and demurrage can arise if clearance or collection is delayed; clarify who is responsible before booking.
Route reference and next step
An archived Gillship LCL sheet lists Berlin as a destination and shows a transfer point for some Canadian origins. That sheet does not establish a current vessel, port, transit time or price. Send the actual origin and receiving address, cargo details and ready date for a fresh route check.
Read the Germany overview for broader shipping questions or the Berlin destination page for an all-service enquiry.
